CryoBeauty FAQs
Get rid of unsightly age spots, skin tags & more safely & easily.

What is CryoBeauty?
CryoBeauty, also called Cryotherapy, is a completely non-invasive procedure in which liquid nitrogen in a safe cartridge is precisely applied to minor skin lesions, thereby freezing and destroying the tissue. We use an FDA approved class one device called the Cryoprobe. This instrument allows for precision directed airflow to the affected area and assures accurate and completely safe treatment. Class 1 devices are the safest medical devices. From Wikipedia: Class I devices are not intended for use in supporting or sustaining life or to be of substantial importance in preventing impairment to human health, and they may not present a potential unreasonable risk of illness or injury.

What types of skin imperfections can be treated with CryoBeauty at Acorn Organica?
It is important to know that the staff at Acorn Organica is strictly non-medical and therefore only treats the following minor skin irregularities: skin tags, age spots and annoying freckles, warts, keratosis and fibromas. We will not treat anything that is beyond our scope of practice such as pre-cancerous lesions and moles. We only perform this treatment externally and will not treat any mucus membranes. Although CryoBeauty is safe for pregnant women, we encourage waiting until after giving birth and will not treat.

Will I need more than one treatment?
Treatments vary depending on the size and depth of the area treated. Many spots can be totally eliminated after one treatment. We offer a discounted rate for touch ups.

What does the procedure entail?
This is a very quick and simple procedure which requires very little preparation. We will choreograph the spots you would like to get rid of and the order in which the liquid nitrogen will be applied. Once that is done, the technician inserts the cartridge ampoule into the Cryoprobe and treatment is administered.

Does it hurt?
Most people experience a very small amount of discomfort lasting only a second or two during treatment. It is common to feel a slight tingling or burning sensation for up to two hours after treatment. Blistering and throbbing may be experienced for 24-48 hours. Redness, swelling and blister formation are expected over the treated area. Blistering usually subsides within two to three hours. Do not lance the blisters or otherwise touch the treated areas after treatment unless it is for the purpose of cleansing. Do not rub or scrub with washcloth or any other abrasive. Some people take an analgesic to decrease any discomfort, while some have found relief with cool packs, but the vast majority of the types of treatment at Acorn Organica produce no discomfort. Neosporin Plus is helpful in controlling bacteria, keeping the skin moist and relieving any minor discomfort.

What should i do after treatment?
Keep the area clean, but do not scrub it or pick at it. You may not notice anything for days or weeks and then all at once you may feel a crust or scab develop. Never pick it off. Let it heal on its own. Picking, not the treatment itself, WILL cause scarring. It is imperative when treating hyperpigmented spots to always use a sunscreen to decrease the likelihood of reappearance.

How long does it take to heal?
Most head and neck area treatments heal in 4-6 weeks, body areas take longer. Legs take the longest to heal. A dark or red spot may form and will usually fade within no more than six months and in the vast majority of cases within a few weeks.
